Your questions

What is proofreading?

Proofreading, the third element of the 4-step quality control processes that we implement at Transistent, means checks by a native document controller. Whereas our editors are comparing source against target for possible errors in meaning or omissions, our native proofreaders are reading the target for naturalness and fluency. So, for example, if you are having your text translated from Turkish to English, a native English speaker will check it to make sure that it reads perfectly for your target audience. After proofreading and DTP checks, we deliver the translation in perfect condition and in its original format!

What does QA/automated check mean?

When a project is being translated, especially a very large one, inconsistencies and numerical errors can sometimes slip through the net, and the terminology preferred by the customer might not be adhered to, as the glossary may not be linked to tools in which the translator is working. But thanks to automated checks, known as “QA checks” – the penultimate quality control process we put in place as part of our zero-error policy – we are able to get the computer to do the hard work and mark out any spelling errors, spacing problems, wrong numbers, and dates that a translator’s tired eyes might miss as they concentrate on all the linguistic complexities of your project. We can also link our clients’ glossaries to this, so that the QA alerts the translator if a preferred term hasn’t been used. As a result we can eliminate a lot of those annoying errors that careless translation agencies will pass on to you, thereby guaranteeing the quality and accuracy of our translations!
